"Personal happiness cannot exist until the whole world is happy"(written by Kenji Miyazawa / translated by Roger Pulvers)

At the days when Japan shoved its ways to an aggressive war in the exclusivism, he made a quite innovative and original suggestion that we should think over our relationship with the whole universe. Everything is in sympathy, he realized.
He spent most of his life of 37 years in Iwate prefecture remote from the capital, to improve living conditions of the local people.
In spite of his community-based activities, his works are widely read across the generation and the border.
